When people shop for birthdays and holidays the usual gift seems to be perfume and cologne. You can find several different scents and even brands to choose from. Celebrities have started making their own brands of perfume and cologne with their signature scent. You can buy perfume and even cologne for as cheap as a buck or as expensive as a couple thousand bucks. The size and brand are what determines the price.

If you want to try several scents to find one you like you could try buying small vials of different scents. This saves you money because you don’t have to buy a large bottle of something you may not even like. You can buy a little bottle to test it out first. You want to test the scent on your skin because each person’s body chemistry is different so it makes the scents smell differently on different people.

If you buy a lot of different scents in small vials then you get a chance to try them all before choosing one you like the most. Once you find one you really like then you can go out and buy the big bottle of it. This is much cheaper than buying several large bottles of perfume or cologne that you will never use.

If you hear of a new scent coming out that you may want to try then buy a little vial first or go to a department store to try a sample of it. Many major department stores have sample bottles and some even have people that spray you with it when you ask for it.

It is important that you spray it on your skin and not just your clothes or you will not know what the scent will smell like once you get it on your skin. There are also samples in many different magazines. These samples can usually only be used once but that is enough to let you know whether you want to buy it or not.

Buying cologne and perfume for others can be frustrating if you do not know the brand or scent they prefer. Usually if you know someone really good then you will know the brand and scent that they like best. You also may have heard them mention a particular brand they would like to have. If you are buying for someone you do not know very well you can try to find a scent that reminds you of the perfume you have smelled them wearing before.

If this does not help then you can just buy a scent that you like and keep the receipt in case they do not like it. Usually during gift giving holidays department stores have perfume and cologne gift sets that come with little bottles and big bottles of a specific scent and it comes with lotion or sometimes shower gel.

These sets are perfect for gifts because they cost around the same and sometimes less than the bottle of perfume or cologne usually cost. You also get extra things for the same price. You can find good deals online as well.

The giving of perfume as a personal gift shows that you care for the recipient. The right cologne can brighten your day or evoke a romantic aura.
